This ramble will tour a part of the Port Marine Sculpture Trail and then take in views of the Severn as we walk through the Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve. This will be a leisurely walk as we take time to look at art, views and wildlife. This circular walk will take about three hours (including a picnic lunch) – taking us from the High Street, to the end of the Marina and turning east towards the Nature Reserve. The walk can be cut short at any point with an easy return to bus stops/parking.
If time and energy levels (and weather) permit we can extend the walk in the afternoon to include a little more sculpture and to round the headland to East Wood and the Mariners Path along the Severn Estuary.
The rambles are an ideal way for members to get to know each other outside the formal setting of a meeting and also provide an opportunity to put the world to rights. Indeed, this stroll around the Marina and Nature Reserve will raise issues of community access, public art and the protection of nature reserves.
